The Flaming Lips, formed in 1983 in Oklahoma City, are an American psychedelic rock band. The current lineup includes Wayne Coyne (vocals, guitars, bass, keyboards), Steven Drozd (bass, guitars, keyboards, drums, vocals), Derek Brown (guitars, keyboards, percussion), Matt Duckworth Kirksey (keyboards, percussion, drums), and Tommy McKenzie (bass). Coyne and Drozd have been the only consistent members since 1991, with Coyne being the sole founding member following the 2021 departure of bassist and keyboardist Michael Ivins.

After releasing several albums on the indie label Restless, the band gained mainstream success with Warner Brothers releases such as *Hit to Death in the Future Head* (1992) and *Transmissions from the Satellite Heart* (1993), featuring the hit single "She Don't Use Jelly." They continued their success with critically acclaimed albums like *The Soft Bulletin* (1999) and *Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots* (2002). Nominated for a BRIT Award in 2007, the band has won three Grammy Awards and was named one of the "50 Bands to See Before You Die" by Q magazine in 2002.
