About Phoenix

Phoenix are a French indie-pop and rock band formed in Versailles in the 1990s. The group consists of Thomas Mars, Deck d'Arcy, Christian Mazzalai and Laurent Brancowitz.

Their debut album, United, arrived in 2000 and included If I Ever Feel Better and Too Young. Phoenix continued with Alphabetical and It's Never Been Like That before reaching a much larger international audience with Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix in 2009.

Featuring Lisztomania, 1901 and Lasso, the album won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album. Phoenix followed it with Bankrupt!, Ti Amo and their seventh studio album, Alpha Zulu, which arrived in 2022.

The band has also become a regular presence at major international festivals, including Coachella and Primavera Sound, while their 2024 performance at the Paris Olympics closing ceremony brought their music to a global audience.

Phoenix popular songs

1. 1901 – Released on Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix in 2009, 1901 became one of the band's breakthrough international tracks and remains one of their best-known songs.

2. Lisztomania – The opening track from Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, Lisztomania helped define the sound of the band's Grammy-winning fourth album.

3. If I Ever Feel Better – Released on Phoenix's debut album, United, If I Ever Feel Better became an early favourite and has remained part of the band's catalogue for more than two decades.

What to expect from a Phoenix concert

A Phoenix concert draws from more than two decades of indie pop, rock and electronic influences, with the band's live sets moving between earlier tracks and material from their more recent albums.

Songs such as Lisztomania, 1901 and If I Ever Feel Better have regularly appeared in Phoenix setlists, alongside tracks including Entertainment, Ti Amo, Tonight and Trying to Be Cool. Their live performances also give the band room to extend or combine songs beyond their studio versions.

If Phoenix return to Australia in 2027, the exact setlist and concert format will depend on the tour. No Australian performances are currently announced.
