The Libertines, an English rock band formed in London in 1997, were founded by frontmen Carl Barât and Pete Doherty. Known for their raw sound and close-knit songwriting partnership, the band also featured John Hassall on bass and Gary Powell on drums for much of their career. As key figures in the UK garage rock revival, The Libertines rose to fame in the early 2000s despite internal conflicts, particularly Doherty's struggles with drug addiction.
