All You Need To Know About Johann Hari

Johann Eduard Hari (born 21 January 1979) is a Scottish writer and journalist who previously wrote for The Independent and The Huffington Post. In 2011, Hari faced suspension and subsequently resigned from The Independent after admitting to plagiarism and fabrications dating back to 2001, as well as making malicious edits to the Wikipedia pages of journalists who had criticized him. Since then, he has authored books on various topics, including depression, the war on drugs, the impact of technology on attention spans, and anti-obesity medication, though these works have attracted criticism for inaccuracies and misrepresentation.

Throughout his career, Hari received several accolades, including Student News Journalist of the Year by The Times in 2000, Young Journalist of the Year at the British Press Awards in 2003, and Newspaper Journalist of the Year at the Amnesty International Media Awards in 2007 and 2010 for his articles "The Dark Side of Dubai" and "Congo's Tragedy: The War the World Forgot." He also won the Orwell Prize for political journalism in 2008, though it was withdrawn in 2011, and was named Journalist of the Year at the Stonewall Awards in 2009 and received the Martha Gellhorn Prize for Journalism in 2010.
