On Cinema is an American comedy web series and podcast created by Tim Heidecker and Gregg Turkington. Beginning as a podcast in 2011, the series developed into a long-running web show in which Heidecker and Turkington portray fictionalized versions of themselves as incompetent and self-important movie critics. Although the program is presented as a film-review show, its real focus is the increasingly absurd relationship between the two hosts, their personal conflicts, and the bizarre fictional world that develops around them. The series combines satire, metafiction, black comedy, anti-comedy, and cringe comedy, often deliberately presenting poor-quality movie reviews, pointless arguments, and exaggerated characters as part of its humour. Over time, On Cinema has expanded beyond the main show to include annual Oscar specials, the spin-off series Decker, the film Mister America, and other projects, developing a dedicated cult following. The series currently continues through the independent HEI Network and has become known for its unusually large and interconnected fictional universe.
