Who is José González?
José Gabriel González, professionally known as José González, is a Swedish-Argentinian indie folk singer-songwriter and guitarist based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Alongside his successful solo career, he is a member of the band Junip, which he formed with keyboardist Tobias Winterkorn. González began his musical journey in the Gothenburg hardcore punk scene, performing with Back Against the Wall, a band influenced by iconic acts such as Black Flag, The Misfits and Dead Kennedys. From 1993 to 1998, he played bass for hardcore band Renascence before joining rock group Only If You Call Me Jonathan as a guitarist in 1997. In June 2003, González launched his solo recording career with a two-track 7-inch single, which caught the attention of Joakim Gävert, co-founder of Imperial Records.
