Sigur Rós is an Icelandic post-rock band that formed in Reykjavík in 1994. The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Jón Þór "Jónsi" Birgisson, bassist Georg Hólm, and keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson. Renowned for their ethereal sound, they are characterized by Jónsi's unique falsetto and the use of bowed guitar, combining classical and minimalistic elements in their music. Jónsi often sings in Icelandic, as well as in non-linguistic vocalizations known as "Vonlenska."
