About Empire of the Sun
Empire of the Sun are an Australian electronic duo formed by Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore. They broke through internationally with their 2008 debut album, Walking on a Dream, combining electronic pop with an elaborate visual identity that quickly set them apart.
Their debut produced two of their best-known tracks, Walking on a Dream and We Are the People, before the duo expanded their sound across Ice on the Dune in 2013 and Two Vines in 2016. After an eight-year gap between albums, Empire of the Sun returned with Ask That God in 2024, featuring tracks including Changes, Music on the Radio and Cherry Blossom.
That larger-than-life identity extends well beyond their recorded music. Costumes, dancers, choreography, striking stage designs and Luke Steele's Emperor persona have made Empire of the Sun concerts full-scale visual productions, with each touring era introducing a new version of their distinctive world.
